Father BAsilius Panat, founder of the Little Flower Congregation, was a pioneer who boldly stepped over the frontiers of narrow parochialism, the naivety of caring only for the spiritual needs of a Christian Community and the indeciveness in venturing into unknown. He synchronised the spiritual and material needs of athe people , and went to christians and non-christians alike. The crucial question before him was :'What must i do for my neighbour?'He found his answer in the parable of the Good Samaritian, where Jesus commands:'GO and do likewise(Luke 10,52).The life of Father Basilius was a humble attempt to be like the Good Samaritian of the Gospel. It was a gentle breeze that started an eddy in Mookkanur,an unknown part of the ocean of humanity. The ripples it created have widened and are carried forward through the Little Flower Congregation, which,in the words of Paul Cardinal Philippe, the perfect of the Congregation for thr Oriental Churches,is 'the fruit of his priestly charity, toil and tears'.
